Creating the size and color of an areola depends on the breast size and the undertones of the skin so that the finished areola is in harmony and is natural looking. On many occasions, it is performed on a breast(s) that was surgically reconstructed because of breast cancer.
The goal of areola reconstruction is to have both breasts look the same. Generally, a mix of two or three colors of pigment will be blended as the areola has natural valleys and various color shades.
